Terms and Conditions of entry to Cinedans festival

DISCLAIMER/LIABILITY: Regulations 2010 Cinedans festival

Every effort will be made to protect entries while in the Festival's care; however, the Festival and its sponsor do not assume liability for damage or loss to films or videotapes. Please note that preference is given to animation, experimental, documentary, abstract and narrative titles. Performance videos are not considered but adaptations of existing stage performances are welcomed.

  1. If chosen, entries must be available in Beta SP (PAL), Digi-Beta (PAL).
  2. Preview DVD of entries must arrive in Cinedans office by 16th January 2009 , along with the entry form and fee.
  3. Entries must have been completed after JUNE 2005.
  4. An entry fee of Eur 15 (cash preferred) to Cinedans must be included for each submission. We cannot accept checks.

General:

  1. Cinedans dance film festival will be held beginning July in Amsterdam (exact date announced in April 2010).
  2. The competition is meant to promote talented filmmakers. All preview DVDs entering the competition will be part of the festival and kept for the library. An independent jury with expertise in the field of dance and/or film will select the winners. A prize of will go to the best choice of our jury.
  3. Upon accepting invitation to participate in the competition the film can not be withdrawn.
  4. The submission deadline is 16th January 2009. Late entries cannot enter the festival.
  5. You will be notified by April 2010 if your film is chosen to be screened during the festival.
  6. After official selection, the festival is qualified to use a max. 1 minute excerpt of the tape for promotional broadcasting. This material can be used through any media for promotional purposes of Cinedans festival regardless when or where. You will be asked to send a *.mov or a *. avi or *.mpeg.

Programming:

  1. General scheduling and timetable of screenings are entirely at the discretion of the festival.
  2. Detailed Beta SP or digibeta ( PAL) shipment information will follow upon acceptance of the film. The festival pays only return shipping costs.
  3. In case of a short film the beta must arrive in Amsterdam before May 1st 2009. In case of a longer film (over 30 minutes) the film must arrive before June 16th 2009. The tape will be returned as soon as possible agreed and discussed with filmmaker.
  4. A printed note must accompany the tape that mentions: name of the sender, title and length.
  5. Festival is responsible for the tape the moment it has arrived at the festival's office. The insurance remains in effect until the film is reshipped. In case of damage or loss of the tape during festival, the festival will be only responsible for the costs involved in making a new copy based on the current laboratory rates for a new copy from any given format. Damage must be reported to the festival within a month after return and prior to any following screening. The insurance does not cover any damage during normal screening use.

The Cinedans touring programs (after the festival) are essential to the growth of the genre dance-film. National movie theaters and international venues show increasing interest. (See the Cinedans festival's site cinedans.nl for latest dates and venues). Participants will be approached to take part but are free to withdraw from the touring program.

Conclusion:

Entry of dance film implies unconditional acceptance of regulations. In unspecified cases, the festival management will make a final decision.
